Quick and easy application packaging.
Most universities and colleges have already tried App-V and realized they can't package all the apps students need, and the dedication needed to do it is so high. With Software2, application packaging is quick and easy, with a standardized packaging procedure for over 80% of apps!

Reduce your image size and bloat. Massively.
By virtualizing apps with Cloudpaging and delivering them with AppsAnywhere, our customers have reduced their image size by 75%. That means huge time savings for IT, quicker repair of PCs and faster re-image times. And it's easy to make changes to the image (e.g. app upgrades) in the middle of the academic year, too!

Slash ongoing VDI costs.
AppsAnywhere can be used alongside an existing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). By doing so you can take the apps out of the VDI image and deliver them separately, so they run on the local machine. That means your apps run more smoothly, you save huge amounts on expensive VDI equipment, and your students' experience is awesome.

Azure Active Directory compatibility
Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service. Applications such as Microsoft Office 365 and the Azure portal can use Azure AD for identity management and Single Sign On (SSO). Other, third-party vendors can use this platform too.
AppsAnywhere does this and once you are signed into an Azure AD session you can navigate and SSO across all applications that can authenticate using this method. This is applicable all the way from Office365 to Azure AD compatible VLEs.
AppsAnywhere Technical FAQs
What are the technical requirements for AppsAnywhere?
AppsAnywhere can be installed on any supported Microsoft Windows OS and there is no minimum specification.
Where are AppsAnywhere servers located?
AppsAnywhere servers can be installed on-site (at multiple locations) or on an externally-hosted infrastructure. In addition, the two approaches could be combined to produce a hybrid local/hosted environment.
Can the servers for AppsAnywhere be cloud-based?
Of course, AppsAnywhere can be hosted by your favorite cloud provider.
What backend is needed to deploy AppsAnywhere?
To get the best out of AppsAnywhere, we tailor the infrastructure to meet your IT department’s needs. AppsAnywhere intelligently delivers and virtualizes apps to the end-users, so the backend infrastructure requirements are minimal (unlike VDI!). Most of our customers deliver ALL their apps to ALL their students and staff from just 8 web servers.
Can you use a virtual server with AppsAnywhere?
Yes. Nearly all our implementations to date run on a virtual infrastructure.
Can you save work locally in AppsAnywhere?
Absolutely! Because apps are delivered and run on the physical end-user device, all work can be saved locally (as you would with any other app). In fact, apps delivered by AppsAnywhere not only have access to all the local drives, they also have access to all locally-connected peripherals such as USB devices and printers, too!
How does AppsAnywhere integrate with AD?
AppsAnywhere uses a service account to read your Active Directory structure. Once the users, groups and machines are imported, we provision apps to these users, groups or machines.
What effect does launching AppsAnywhere have on the network?
Thanks to the clever way AppsAnywhere virtualizes apps, it doesn’t have a significant impact on your network traffic. Most apps are cached on the end-points, so the majority of network traffic is about user authentication and license management.
How often do you upgrade AppsAnywhere?
We regularly update AppsAnywhere with new features, most of which are driven and suggested by Software2’s community of expert university IT staff. As a valued customer you can expect at least three releases each year, conveniently tied into the academic calendar.
What web browsers are supported by AppsAnywhere?
AppsAnywhere is guaranteed to work with all the major web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. All other browsers that conform to the usual web protocols will work, too.
Can our university brand AppsAnywhere to make it look like our own?
Absolutely, this is a requirement of all our users. AppsAnywhere is an exciting service provided by your institution. You can choose what to call the service and how to brand it. Our team will help you with all your branding and communications plans.
